Mummies & Saints X Country - full day - 56km - B/C grade
Yes it is a weird name for a day out, and an excellent one at that ! this ride departs from the Adventure centre with a transfer up to 1300m at the small locality of Casone. Here we hit the trails of the Appennines and initially ascend through rich beech forests towards Giovarello pass. Options here for singletrack along the main ridge line before we arrive at Passo Radici and then on towards San Pellegrino in Alpe. A small village ( not of water fame ) but an old Hostel and stopping point for Pilgrims on the old salt route connecting Massa to Modena. Where we find the mummified bodies of 2 saints, San Pellegrino ( said to be related to the king of Scotland !) and Santa Bianca ( no records of such that we can find ). So after time and prayer here ! time for penitence along the Giro del Diavolo, the tour of the devil back up to the main ridge line to continue our ride descending towards the lovely village of Sillico and finally Pieve Fosciana. a great tour for singletrack and wide open views.
